Federal Solar Tax Credit
One of our personal favorite solar incentives that thousands of our customers have taken advantage of is the Solar Investment Tax Credit (ITC). Offered by the federal government, the ITC allows you to potentially claim 30% of the total cost of your solar energy system, including labor and equipment, as a federal tax credit. This tax credit includes any solar panel batteries you may choose to purchase. And if you don’t use all the tax credits the first year, they roll over to the next tax year.
Net Metering in Midland
If you’re looking to completely eliminate your monthly energy bills, then here’s an amazing policy you should know about. Net metering is a solar incentive that allows customers to be credited for any excess energy their home generates and goes unused. This unused energy goes back into the electrical grid, where you will be effectively credited for the electricity towards your monthly electrical bills. Since not all energy providers offer a net metering policy, it’s important to read your provider’s terms of service.
Property Tax Exemption for Midland Solar Panels
In an effort to promote renewable energy, the state of Texas has passed legislation allowing property owners to become exempt from property tax increases that would have been caused by the addition of a solar panel system. In other words, if you decide to get solar panels installed in your home, you will not be facing any property tax increases. We think this is a win for everybody, including the environment.
Midland Solar Rights Laws
Some customers have concerns that their Homeowners Association (HOA) may have rules and regulations against solar panels in their Midland home. Fortunately, we have some good news for homeowners. In 2011, the state of Texas successfully passed HB362, which rules that HOAs and other property owners associations may not prohibit property owners from installing solar energy systems. As long as you meet the typical HOA guidelines for home improvement requests, your HOA is not allowed to deny you a solar panel system.
