1. Leonardo DiCaprio
It’s probably no surprise that we’re topping the list off with this environmental advocate and actor. Leonardo DiCaprio has openly supported eco-friendly efforts for years. Back in 2018, he tweeted, “Solar power is key to a future without fossil fuels.” We don’t know if he had a crystal ball, but DiCaprio has been doing his part to make the world a greener place for over 20 years.
He’s on the board of the World Wildlife Foundation, which supports efforts to make it easier for people to live in harmony with nature. He’s also endorsed an off-grid solar company called Kingo. This company provides decentralized solar energy to communities all over the world.

2. Mark Ruffalo
This Hulk of an activist has installed a solar array beside his home and has actually spoken out against fossil fuels as an energy source. Ruffalo highlights how his solar energy system can produce an excess of clean energy. Through a net metering program in New York, he’s able to receive credits on his utility bill and the excess energy is rolled back to the power grid for his neighbors to use. A superhero after our own hearts, Mark Ruffalo is embracing a greener lifestyle on and off camera.

3. Brad Pitt
Second on the list, but not in our hearts, is Brad Pitt. This heartthrob has held A-list status for quite a long time and has done his part to make significant contributions to sustainability efforts. Pitt’s Make It Right foundation has remodeled an old school building into an energy-efficient apartment complex in Kansas City. Reportedly, the Bancroft School Apartments holds 400 solar panels. The intention of the program is to make sustainable living more affordable and accessible for lower income communities.

4. Edward Norton
Edward Norton partnered with Brad Pitt to create the Solar Neighbors Program in 2004. Since then, the actor has not only placed solar panels on his home, but helped communities all over the U.S. become more sustainable and make solar more accessible.
By encouraging other celebrities to go solar, this program, in tandem, provides a solar energy system to a low-income family.

5. Alicia Silverstone
Alicia Silverstone has talked extensively about her environmentally forward lifestyle. She and her family eat a nice plant-based diet and use composting at home, but also there’s a lot of care in the way she’s created her home. Silverstone’s house was built with reclaimed wood and is furnished with vintage pieces, but guess what’s on top of this eco-friendly dwelling? Yep. Solar panels!

Here’s one of the prettiest celebrities with solar panels. Julia Roberts’ home proves that you can live lavishly and also care about the environment. Complete with a yurt, a skate park, a soccer field, a tennis court, her own beehive and so many other awesome features, this environmental palace still manages to generate clean solar energy with style.
Roberts’ Malibu home was made of sustainable building materials and to top it off, there’s solar panels on the roof.

8. Orlando Bloom
Orlando Bloom is another celebrity practically obsessed with green building. His London home not only sports energy efficient trimmings, but also solar panels.
Bloom says, “It’s as green as I can make it. It’s got solar panels on the roof, energy efficient light bulbs – newer technology basically that is environmentally friendly. It might not be possible for everyone to live a completely green lifestyle, but we can do little things to help slow global warming.”

9. Tom Brady and Gisele Bündchen
A family that…supports environmentally friendly efforts together, stays together. Well, that doesn’t have much of a ring to it, but Tom Brady and Gisele Bündchen show that sustainability can definitely be the backdrop of a love story.
The couple built their Brentwood home with the environment in mind. Like many of the celebrities on our list, they’ve used green building materials, composting and even included a conservation-based irrigation system. The icing on the cake are the solar panels that power their beautiful home with clean energy.

10. Pierce Brosnan
While he might not be James Bond anymore, Pierce Brosnan has won our hearts as an advocate for solar energy. His Malibu mansion uses solar panels to heat the outdoor pool, power the revolving compost heap and light up the guest house. What’s really interesting is that this solar system also generates a surplus of solar energy to sell back to the utility company. Although we don’t all have a super cool, eco-friendly mansion, this set-up isn’t just for celebrities.
California has some really great incentives for homeowners who power with solar, and is the number one state in the nation for solar.

11. Jane Fonda
When it comes to celebrities with solar panels, of course, we had to include Jane Fonda. This climate activist has recently taken a big stance on change and named big oil companies as worthy opponents. And this isn’t the first time Fonda has taken a stand.
Back in 1978, Fonda spoke out at Sun Day in San Francisco, a celebration commissioned by President Carter so that everyone could see the potential of solar energy. Reportedly, Fonda said that solar power could free consumers from the irregular pricing of utility companies. Over the years, many of Fonda’s homes have featured solar panels – one even included a solar-heated swimming pool.

What does a Property Brother and a New Girl have in common? A dream home renovated with the environment in mind. But Scott isn’t only concerned with powering his home with the clean energy of solar panels.
You might’ve heard about his new film,Jonathan Scott’s Power Trip. This trailblazing documentary follows the property guru as he assesses the availability of solar energy across the U.S. and evaluates some of the hang ups people might face when going solar.
